About the role
As a senior back-end engineer at Amiqus, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the backbone of our digital solutions, with a specific focus on creating a scalable and efficient back-end architecture that enhances user experiences.

- Develop testable, performant and high-quality software using Agile methodologies.

- Utilise a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and crafting solutions that are both innovative and practical.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues to drive projects forward.
About you
Your Experience
We recognise that talent comes in many forms and that skills can be acquired in various ways. While we have listed our ideal criteria below, we believe in the potential for growth and are keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about technology and willing to learn. If you do not meet all the criteria but believe you would add value to our team, we would love to hear from you.
- 5+ years in developing and maintaining web applications
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming and a good understanding of SOLID/DRY principles
- Extensive commercial experience in PHP MVC frameworks, preferably Laravel
- Good knowledge of relational databases, specifically MySQL
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Working knowledge of Git version control
- Practical knowledge of Docker
- A meticulous approach to work; you believe that quality is paramount
- Proven background in Agile development processes
- Experience working remotely or as part of a geographically dispersed team.
Nice to have
- Previous experience with ElasticSearch/OpenSearch.
- Good understanding of REST API architecture and implementation. Experience with OpenAPI specification and APIs designs for mobile applications is highly advantageous.
Our interview process
We think it’s important to have an open and transparent interview process so that you have a clear understanding of what to expect. The process might vary slightly depending on the role type or team you apply to join but it usually goes as follows:
- Internal review of applications
- An initial chat about the role with our People Experience Manager
- A non-technical interview with the Team Manager and one other manager
- A technical interview with the Team Manager and a senior engineer

- Onboarding welcome and process kick off with support across the team
