About the role

Amiqus views this role as a key figure within our small, but growing company. With the autonomy and scope to help shape our future back-end engineering needs and which tools we utilise, including managing third-party integrations and supporting API conversations, this would be a great opportunity for someone who is looking to take the next big step in their engineering career.

This role will work closely with our design and product functions using well defined roadmaps to design, enhance and implement features. Amiqus is a critical day-to-day tool for our customers, considered code and thorough testing are key to ensuring that remains true. This is an integral role in our growth plan, working on our well documented codebase, helping shape its future development.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for managing any third-party integrations that we have integrated with on our platform.
  • Engage in conversations with other providers integrating with us through our API, providing necessary support and guidance.
  • Help forge a robust and modern back-end with performance of the users experience at the forefront, as we look to scale;
  • Develop testable, performant and high quality software, utilizing agile practices;
  • Be passionate about software development and its vast potential to bring value to our customers;
  • Have a pragmatic approach to problem solving and solution architecture;
  • Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical people throughout the business as we work in a cross-functional capacity.

About you

In addition, we are are looking for the following:

  • Several years of experience developing and maintaining web applications;
  • Good knowledge of OO programming and SOLID principles;
  • Good commercial PHP MVC development experience – Laravel or similar;
  • Experience with MySQL;
  • Working knowledge of Git version control;
  • Experience with Docker;
  • Experience with REST API Architecture, designs and implementation;
  • Attention to detail; you believe if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right;
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment;
  • Comfortable working autonomously and remotely or as part of a remote team;
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Our interview process

We think it’s important to have an open and transparent interview process so that you have a clear understanding of what to expect. The process might vary slightly depending on the role type or team you apply to join but it usually goes as follows:

  • A more structured interview with the team manager and one other team member
